YOUR TRAINING
Rhythm Phrasing Trainer: 40 rhythms to make your solo breathe
8 tracks, one per rhythm family, with 5 cells each. You hear the rhythm, the bell rings and you repeat it with the beat running. Always with the same 3 notes.
The 8 tracks
Hits on the beat, without filling the gaps. The base of all phrasing.
Even notes, two per beat. The rhythm that sounds like a scale.
Most hits land between the beats, on the “and”. It pushes the phrase forward.
The hit lands where you don’t expect it and the pulse still feels steady. Instant groove.
The note arrives half a beat before the strong beat.
The gap is part of the phrase: breathing is playing.
One short idea and a long silence. Question and pause.
Combines the earlier families inside a single bar.
